Promises are best made when you know you can keep them. We don’t need anymore broken promises in this world. I think we can all agree on that.

Promises made in confidence are especially important to keep because trust is at stake. Trust is something built over time, but it can be destroyed in less than a second. That said, you must weigh the pros and cons of keeping a secret if you promised something would remain a secret. Of course, if that information could lead to someone being saved from a lot of pain, death, or any harm, that isn’t a promise worth keeping now is it?

So making our promises can be a tricky situation… What do we promise others? How often do we break these promises and why? What do we promise ourselves?

The last promise I made was to myself to stop looking in the wrong places for something authentic and real relationship-wise. Online dating may work for some, but it doesn’t always pan out quite how you’d like it to. Matchmaking may work for others, but then again, it doesn’t always work either. I decided to stop focusing so much on finding Mr. Right and, instead, focus on being Ms. Right. I have a lot of work to do! Haha!

I’d like to hear from you. What’s the last promise you made and were able to keep it? Why or why not?
